contracting genital herpes? TIme frame to expect symptoms?

Posted by admin on November 30th, 2008

I recently had sex with a girl with genital herpes. I wore a condom and she took valtrex. Im still nervous. Anyone have an idea of when the average time that symptoms willl occur, if they do? Any suggestions of how I should feel about now?

If you are going to have a symptomatic first outbreak, it should happen in the first couple of weeks.

But you may contract (and spread) herpes and never have any symptoms at all.

You should know that studies with couples that refrained from sex during outbreaks and in which the infected partner took Valtrex showed less than a 1% per year transmission rate. And only some of the couples in the study used condoms.

Good job taking care of yourself - and for not rejecting this woman because of her herpes.

Why does Herpes medicine can eliminate the simptoms but cant eliminate the herpes from the body?

Posted by admin on November 30th, 2008

Whats the reason that when you take a medicine for herpes , aciclovir or other , it helps you erasing the simptoms and put you healty again ,but it cant cure herpes ? Is not that the medicine goes throught your entire bloodstream and body ? why it cant eliminate the virus if it can eliminate it from the site of the sores ?

The medication only treats the symptoms.

And Herpes can't be cured by twigs and berries, don't listen to quack "herbalists".

Cold Sore Treatments you Need to Know

Posted by admin on November 29th, 2008

Cold sore treatments are essentially categorized into two broad groups, over-the-counter (OTC) medications and creams, and home cold sore remedies. In this article, we will look at OTC medications as well as home remedies for cold sores available for our use.

In case you do not know, cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus. Even this virus has two types, Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 is the one that normally causes facial cold sores, though Type 2 has also been reported to cause sores on our face too even though it is mainly responsible for genital sores. Though huge investments have been poured into researching for a cure for cold sores, unfortunately, the medical industry has yet to be able to formulate a complete cold sore treatment to eliminate cold sores. What we have in the market are only medications and creams that can soothe the pain and bring itch relief and in some cases, quicken the healing process. Natural cold sore treatment seems to have answers to curing cold sores but as there have not been conclusive medical researches done in this area, only those who have benefited personally can testify of their effectiveness.

Over-The-Counter (OTC) Medications and Creams

As mentioned, such a form of cold sore treatment is primarily intended to alleviate the pain, itchiness and discomfort to the sufferer. There are others that have antiviral and antibiotic properties that inhibit the cold sore lesion development and accelerate the healing process.

1. You can easily find products containing docosanol, benzocaine, lidocaine, camphor, zinc, lysine, tetracaine or phenol off the shelf that are effective against cold sores.

2. Lip balms containing the compound petrolatum are pretty effective moisturizers. They prevent cold sores from peeling, cracking and bleeding and offer pain relief.

Home Remedies for Cold Sores

Cold sore remedies are cheap and easy to prepare cold sore treatments.

1. Applying ice at first sign of tingling for about 20 minutes and repeated applications throughout the day is effective in slowing the cold sore lesion development.

2. Topical medication containing zinc is useful

3. Applying tea bags on your cold sores is another effective cold sore treatment. As tea contains tannic acid which is antiviral, the herpes simplex virus is suppressed.

4. L-lysine (2 to 4 g) may be consumed daily under the advice of your doctor.

These are some useful cold sore treatment methods. To learn more about how to cure your cold sores naturally with effective cold sore treatment and remedies, visit my blog.

What percentage of people living with the herpes simplex virus show symptoms?

Posted by admin on November 28th, 2008

I am sorry but I do not know the exact percentage, but I do know there are a lot of people with diseases and viruses that are not showing outward signs. there is even a commercial on t.v. for a genital herpes suppression drug that says something about how most cases are passed on because the person did not even know they were infected.

Can the herpes simplex virus be spread when there is not an outbreak?

Posted by admin on November 28th, 2008

My boyfriend gets cold sores but only occasionally. Can he pass them to me even if he does not have one at the time? In other words, is the herpes simplex virus contagious if there is not outbreak of cold sores? Thanks!

My boyfriend would always get cold sores on his lips and i never knew they were herpes i was only 16 and very naive. The first and only time that he performed oral sex, I got genital herpes and he didn’t even have an outbreak!! I then later found out that herpes can be spread with or without any signs or symptoms. Since then I have also developed herpes simplex keratitis (herpes inside my eye) and will one day need a cornea transplant. Its a very scary virus that will stay with you for your entire life, there is no cure and even with the medication I still get horrible painful outbreaks. Good luck and i really hope your boyfriend is taking precautions.

Amin Acid Supplements

Posted by admin on November 27th, 2008

What are Amino Acids?

Amino acids are organic compounds composed of one or more amino groups, and one or more acidic carboxyl groups, and are the basic building blocks of protein. There have been more than 100 amino acids found in living organisms. Only 20 amino acids are commonly found in animals, the others exist in other biological systems, primarily plants.

Amino Acids are used for growth, maintenance, and repair of cells in the body. Of the 20 amino acids found in animals, 12 of them can be synthesized by the body as needed, and these are referred to as nonessential amino acids. The remaining 8 amino acids, cannot be synthesized by the body, and therefore must be acquired from food or supplement, and these are referred to as essential amino acids.

The 20 amino acids are;

Essential: Isoleucine, Leucine, Lysine, Methionine, Phenylalanine, Threonine, Tryptophan, and Valine.

Nonessential: Alanine, Arginine, Asparagine, Aspartate, Cysteine, Glutamate, Glutamine, Glycine, Histidine, Proline, Serine, and Tyrosine.

Why Supplement Amino Acids?

Arginine

Arginine is a nonessential amino acid, and it is responsible for the normal function of the pituitary glands. Arginine is used to compose the compound nitric oxide, which has many beneficial effects. Nitric oxide reduces blood vessel stiffness and increases blood flow, improving blood vessel function. Arginine supplementation is effective for lowering cholesterol, regulating blood pressure, erectile dysfunction, enhancing sexual feeling in both men and women, improving long term memory, and fighting infections.

BCAA’s

Branched chain amino acids or BCAA’s are the essential aminos leucine, isoleucine, and valine. BCAA’s are considered to be among the most beneficial and effective supplements in any sports nutrition program. They are needed for the maintenance of muscle tissue and appear to preserve muscle glycogen stores, and help prevent muscle protein breakdown during exercise. BCAA supplements may be used to prevent muscle loss at high altitudes, prolong endurance performance, and to provide the needed amino acids not provided by a vegetarian diet.

Carnitine

Carnitine is made in the body from essential amino acids, Lysine and Methionine, and is needed to release energy from fat. Carnitine is commonly used to promote growth and development, fat-burning, increasing energy, and improved resistance to muscle fatigue. Individuals, who supplement Carnitine while engaging in strenuous exercise routines, are less likely to experience muscle soreness.

Creatine

Creatine is made up of three amino acids - Arginine, Glycine and Methionine. Our liver combines these three amino acids to make creatine. 95% of the creatine in our bodies is stored in the muscles. Creatine provides instant additional energy to the muscles. Unlike the energy provided by carbohydrates or fats, which take some time to convert to useable energy, the energy for creatine can be converted almost instantaneously. Creatine also increases muscle volume, by pulling water into the muscle cells, and decreases muscle burn during exercise. Creatine also increases protein synthesis, meaning greater muscle gain.

GABA

GABA or gamma-amino butyric acid is a synthetic compound designed to lower fat levels and increase lean muscle tissues by stimulating the brain to secrete more human growth hormone. Studies have shown GABA to be effective stimulating the secretion of HGH, and has been clinically proven to help the pituitary gland secret HGH.

Glutamine

Glutamine is a nonessential amino acid. The body relies on glutamine as cellular fuel for the immune system. After intense work outs, glutamine levels in the body are reduced by as much as 50%. Glutamine supplementation can minimize the breakdown of muscle tissue and improve protein metabolism. Studies have shown that with as little as 2 grams of free-form L-glutamine supplement, growth-hormone levels can increase up to a 400%.

Lysine

Lysine is an essential amino acid. Lysine is important for proper growth and the production of carnitine, a nutrient responsible for converting fatty acids into energy and helping to lower cholesterol. Lysine helps the body absorb and conserve calcium and maintaining the correct nitrogen balance in the body and maintaining lean body mass. Lysine is useful for patients recovering from injuries and recovery after operations, and to help maintain healthy blood vessels. It also assists in fighting herpes and cold sores.

NAC

NAC or n-acetyl cysteine is an altered form of the amino acid cysteine. NAC may assist to break down mucus and used in the treatment of bronchitis - for this reason it is used as an inhalant in hospitals in the treatment of bronchitis. It assists the body in synthesizing glutathione and helps to protect the body from acetaminophen (the ingredient in Tylenol).

SAM-e

SAM-E is a derivative of the amino acid Methionine, and is used in the treatment of many conditions including depression, liver disease, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, schizophrenia, and migraine headaches. SAM-E is also commonly referred to as S-Adensyl Methionine, L-Methionine, Adomet, and Ademethionine. The liver produces as much as 8 grams of SAM-e a day. Liver disease, osteoarthritis, and extensive use of prescription, and over the counter medications, can inhibit the body’s production of SAM-e.

Tyrosine

Tyrosine is a nonessential amino acid. Tyrosine is needed to make epinephrine, norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine, all of which work to regulate mood. Deficiencies in tyrosine, therefore, have been associated with depression. Taken ahead of time, tyrosine may suppress typical bodily reactions and feelings from stressful situations like surgery, emotional upset, and sleep deprivation.

How long can you have Genital Herpes with out showing symptoms?

Posted by admin on November 26th, 2008

Days? Months? Years? I thought it was a year or so but I wasn’t sure. So how long can you have the virus with out showing any symptoms?
Im just asking if you contract the virus could you theoretically have it for 3 years and have no clue?
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Av9TDaLQ7HqRmWCVkw.h0Xvsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080915081034AAfYKQo
someone please answer this!

Most people with genital herpes spend their entire life never knowing that they have it.

Other people are diagnosed only when they finally accidentally infect their partner.

It is rare for someone to be without symptoms for many years and then suddenly have a very severe outbreak. But it is possible and not uncommon for people to be without symptoms for many years and then have some tiny sore that finally reveals that they have herpes.

Just because your partner gave you herpes, that doesn’t mean that they’ve cheated on you. Even if you’ve been together for years and years.

Good luck.

How To Treat Eye Infections In Pets

Posted by admin on November 25th, 2008

Pet owners want the best for the pets and that includes keeping their pets healthy by trying to prevent diseases and illnesses and treating them when they occur. Unfortunately eye infections are fairly common in pets. They can crop up on their own or occur when something lodges in the eye. They can also occur when the surface of the eye, called the cornea, gets scratched.

The common warning signs to look out for that your pet has an eye infection are: eye discharge, squinting, redness, cloudiness, and trying to rub and scratch the eye. Rubbing or scratching of the eye can make things worse for your pet. One of those cone shaped instruments that covers the head will prevent your pet from rubbing their eyes and further irritating the condition.

Eye discharge may be ugly, but it’s a valuable warning sign that something is wrong. This is important because infections can progress very quickly and even in some cases cause permanent eye damage. Discharge is a telltale sign of infection and will often be thick, yellow, gray, or green. Any off-colored eye discharge that persists for longer than 48 hours without improvement should be seen by a vet.

Infections of the eye and surrounding structures are common in pets and usually involve the conjunctiva, leading to conjunctivitis or “pink eye.” Causes of infections include various bacteria, viruses like the Herpes virus, foreign material or irritants in the eye and even Lyme disease. Eye infections may become chronic if not treated and can cause permanent damage such as blindness if neglected.

Some dog breeds are more likely to get eye infections than others. Before you get a dog, research its breed to see if they are more prone to eye infections. If you think your pet has an eye infection, you should get them examined at the Vet for a test, treatment, and to prevent permanent damage from occurring.

Vets often recommend applying an antibiotic ointment made especially for the eye. Other treatments besides an ointment are eye drops and all natural herbal treatments. Medications can be received from the Vet and there are also many websites, that offer medications for dog and cat eye infections, some being homeopathic or all natural medications. If you want to save money, you can usually get medications cheaper online than at the Vet.

To sooth the painful side effects of an eye infection, there is a product called Newtons Homeopathics Eye Irritation. It relieves pain, itching, dryness, swelling, redness, tired eyes, pink eye, and thick yellow discharge of the eyes. Sometimes your pet will get an eye infection no matter what. You just can’t prevent it. However, there are steps you can do to help prevent your pet from getting an eye infection and to maintain optimum eye health.

The steps are:

• Always keep your dog head inside moving vehicles
• Check your dog’s eyes on a regular basis
• Make sure its annual veterinary checkup includes a thorough eye exam.
• Keep your dog’s eyes clean by wiping away any discharge that may accumulate.

There is a product called Halo Herbal Eye Wash which will keep your pet’s eyes clean, open tear ducts, and sooth irritated tissue. I use this on my pets and highly recommend it as a product to keep handy at all times.

How long does it usually take to have symptoms of genital herpes after contracting it?

usually when someone who isn’t infected has sex with someone who is they have their first outbreak within a few days. It usually feels like a cut or a uti then worsens and breaks out into sores.
