What happens if you have a herpes outbreak during your pregnany? I am 26 weeks pregnant and had an outbreak. I had my first outbreak a couple months before I became pregnant. Is there any risks in getting an outbreak during pregnancy? And is it ok to take valtrex? My doctor told me to take 3 grams a day. Just looking for other people’s experience on this.
Yes, it was my dear husband who gave it to me, but he only has the oral kind, I have the *other* kind.
it is fine to have an outbreak during pregnancy as long as you dont have one within a month of giving birth. then its too risky to pass on to the baby. you say that you husband has oral herpes and you have the "other" kind. you really probably both have the same strain, but oral herpes can pass to the genitals through oral sex and genital can pass to oral. but really, the strains are different. you likely have the same strain that your husband has on his month, just in a different area. that is a good thing, it is a milder strain and your outbreaks will occur less often and come even less often and be more mild as time passes.

After you have had sex with someone how long does it take for the symptoms of herpes to appear?
Herpes can take any where from 2-30 days or longer if your immune system is strong enough to suppress it.
Keep an eye out for symptoms like painful itching, burning and or tingling sensations, flu like symptoms, swollen genitals, trouble or burning when you pee, blisters or open cut like sores appearing. If you have any of those symptoms then get checked out and tested for herpes at your doctor, gyno or local clinic.
I have oral and genital herpes.

I am a senior in college, I have contracted genital herpes. I don’t have health insurance or the money to go to the doctor and pay for meds. I was gonna see if anyone else has been in my position before and what they did. Is there any good home remedies?
anyway once a person becomes infected, Herpes Simplex Virus lies dormant in the body, waiting for just the right conditions to become active again. There can be many triggers which activate the virus, such as eating arginine-rich foods (like chocolate, cola, beer, seeds and nuts); the onset of a cold or fever; sunburn; the menses cycle & any physical or emotional event that introduces stress to the body. Each person’s triggers are different, but all herpes sufferers have one thing in common–worrying about the next outbreak adds even more stress, which just feeds the vicious cycle and makes it worse!
And there is no real treatment that can cure herpes, but antiviral medications can shorten and prevent outbreaks during the period of time the person takes the medication. For example Herpeset is a good (probably the best) product. It works by stimulating your immune system to fight the HSV virus.
It worked and is working for me!
I do not know if any pharmacies carry Herpeset but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.herpeset.com/?aid=749165 . In addition, daily suppressive therapy for symptomatic herpes can reduce transmission to partners…!
since 2005 I got 5 outbreaks! every outbreak every ~6 months. every spring and every autumn! that was very hard time for me! then I started to use the proper diet for me and some herbal treatment and listen "Bobby McFerrin - Don’t Worry Be Happy" . Now I don’t have any outbreaks for about ~2 years!
good luck!

Does herpes usually come in packs of sores? Because I think if you have a bartholin’s gland cyst it’s usually just one large sore near the vaginal opening… but I’m not sure. What are all the differences?
herpes comes in clusters of blisters….a bartholin cyst is inder the skin and normally does not erupt into a sore

I have been with one partner in the last year and since he travels I dont see him often but last had intercourse with him a little over a month and a half ago. Last nite I discovered a pimple like blister in my vulva and am a bit worried about it. Is there a chance I may have contracted Herpes after so long?
How long after contact with a person with herpes simplex will it take, before I get symptoms?
It usually takes between two and seven days after contact for the first symptoms to appear, with 4 to 5 days being the most common incubation period. Some people never catch it. Others catch it but show no symptoms. Occasionally it can appear for the first time years after you could have caught it.

Is it easy to get herpes in the eyes if you have genital herpes? And if so what are the symptoms of herpes in the eyes?
Herpes in the eye (occular herpes) can cause blindness, especially if you are immuno compromised. If you have herpes (genital or oral- cold sores) and get a tingling around the eye, pain in the eye and sores see the dr urgently!

How can my husband prevent transmission of Herpes virus 2?he doesnt know i have the virus. Can taking the valacyclovir helps while not using condom helps prevent transmission? Is ther other way to prevent transmission of virus aside from abstaining and using condom?
Even if you aren't having an outbreak their is roughly a 70% chance you have viral shedding (the area of skin that gets sores is still able to transmit the virus even when their is no outbreak) Valtrax + condom is the best combination to prevent transmission. (reduces transmission chances upwards of 90%+ depending on immune system)
P.S. you cant get it from a toilet seat (i know you didnt ask that but im hell bent on debunking that stupid ass myth, I've ran across a couple patients who have been kicked out their home bc their room mates found out and thought they would get it from the toilet, ignorant ass people)

I am an insulin dependent diabetic in good control and in good health.
I met a woman who I fell in love with that has herpes both orally and genitals. Can my weakened immune system from the diabetes make it easy for me to catch herpes from her even when her herpes is lying dormant?
Herpes can be spread to you when it's dormant weather you're immune system is compromised or not. This is due to viral shedding which happens in between out breaks and it's undetectable. You may have more of a chance of contracting it and may have a rougher time dealing with out breaks IF you do contract herpes from her. You may have more frequent out breaks when your immune system is lowered by illnesses, infections or stress.
If you are really in love with her and want to be with her, then that risk is some thing you should take into consideration and some thing you should talk to her about. There are things you can do to help prevent you from getting herpes. If she ever does have an out break orally or genitally then do not have sex until the out break is totally healed and gone. She should also be on some kind of suppressive therapy, this will also lower your risk (but not completely eliminate) of getting herpes from her. When she doesn't have an out break she is less contagious but there is still a slight risk that she could pass herpes on.

This is for my knowledge because i do have herpes but i haven't seen an outbreak or probably noticed it and its an year I've been diagnosed with it. Now, i have had sex with a lot of women of unknown status and i don't know whether i have hsv1 in my genital area or hsv1 orally. So, Ive read that herpes makes a person more susceptible of getting HIV. How can this be possible through protected sex?
either if you have hsv-1 orally or genitally both can increase your chances of contracting HIV (if you have sexual contact with an infected HIV person)..
BECAUSE..
both cause open sores to appear on either your lips/mouth or genitals.. these open sores are like little cuts (openings) for the HIV virus to invade the body. Even with protection (condoms) the herpes virus can still spread regardless because condoms do not cover the genitals or all the sores that can appear.
hope ive helped =)
good luck!

My friend was diagnosed with it about 4 months ago, but has not gone away, just gotten better but not completely and then comes back. The doctor tested her last week or so for other things, but she is waiting on the results, and she was negative for any stds besides herpes. We would like to know if anyone with herpes has experienced it for long periods of time even while taking medications, or if someone has an idea of what else she could have…fungus of any sort??? Thanks for your time!
just go get tested again! if the problem persists then that means that there is a problem! so she should go to doctor!
